Futon Assembly Instructions

Tools

Parts

9/16 socket and driver Hinged log unit
Rubber hammer Two arm assemblies
Two people Two side rails
  Two wooden pegs
  Bolt package

  • STEP ONE - Insure you have all parts to your new Frontier Futon. Move all the parts of your futon to desired location.

  • STEP TWO -  You will have two arm assemblies and two longer logs that have tenons on each end of the log. Note that there are matching numbers written on the tenon of each long log and also inside of the holes located on the lower part of each arm. To insure proper assembly you must insert the numbered tenon into the numbered hole in the arm. This will insure proper alignment and fit.

  • STEP THREE - Locate bolt package. There will be four 3/8 x 4 ½ lag bolts and 4 washers. Drive bolts into each side of arm assembly. There are 2 counter sunk holes in each arm. Drive bolts in, snug tight. Do not over tighten.

  • STEP FOUR - Place assembled frame in an open area if possible. This will aid in the rest of the assembly process. Note the holes drilled in each of the arms. Position the frame with these holes toward the back.

  • STEP FIVE - Locate: 2 – 6” x 3/8” machine bolts, 2 – 3/8” nuts, 2 – 3/8” washers. The back seat assembly is hinged. Make sure that the single log attached to the seat, is facing up. This is the stop for the mattress.

  • STEP SIX - Lift back and seat assembly into frame. Locate predrilled and counter sunk holes. Take a 3/8” x 6” machine bolt for each side. Have your helper lift with you and slide bolts into predrilled holes in the back sides. Drive bolts in far enough so that the washer and nut can be threaded onto bolts. Make sure back and seat assembly are centered in frame then snug nuts up. Do not over tighten.

  • STEP SEVEN - Locate the stops for the back assembly. Insert into holes on each side. They will insert into the stop holes to lock the back into an upright position.

  • STEP EIGHT - Carefully drive wooden plugs into the 4 holes of the frame. They will cover exposed bolt heads.
